Jim Brownold is originally from Scarsdale, but now resides in Hastings-on-Hudson: better because it’s hyphenated. In high school and college he performed with various rock bands and managed to actually record a few 45’s that are collecting dust somewhere. (“45’s” are small records. “records” are… oh never mind)After spending a little time in the army, Jim worked at radio stations in Middletown, New York; Detroit; and WPLJ in Manhattan. There he did commercials, comedy bits and promos – often involving celebrity impressions. Many of his ads won national awards. …which are now also collecting dust.
While in the “Big City” Jim worked with several improv and comedy groups, did a few animated series, and dabbled some in stand-up. In fact, at StandUp NY he was voted “Funniest Person in Radio and TV”.
He has been featured in Westchester productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Camelot, How to Succeed in Business, Three Penny Opera, Follies, and others. Jim still has a voice-over career, but nowadays it seems to be more of a hobby. He also works with the musical review More Than Music, as well as Aardvark Improv Group. |
